I'm not going to focus a whole lot on it because I love summer too much but when school starts back up again it that time again when we really start thinking about....dun duh duhhhhhhh....fall! There is still so much to enjoy about summer but this week kicks off a few posts about transitioning. Whether it's transitioning your wardrobe, your lifestyle, or your television shows, there is no escaping the change that comes when August rolls into September and fall starts consuming the brain.
So for now, let's focus on smart wardrobe choices that can take us from summer into fall. Starting with a piece you may already have in your closet. I'm talking about one piece culotte jumpsuit or jumper, that summer one-piece that can easily transition into a fall piece with just a few easy additions. (Did I mention I'm obsessed with one-pieces?? Anything that can make getting ready in the morning a flash is alright by me. Click here to read my post about one pieces..)
This Colazza blue floral culotte jumpsuit from Anthropologie was a summer purchase. Not only was this a great one piece outfit, but before I purchased it I thought about a few ways that I could make this a summer-into-fall piece. Making the most out of your pieces will save you a whole lot of time and you'll get the most bang for your buck. Tip on how to do that? Before you purchase, visualize how you're going to wear something at least two to three different ways. Do you think you can do that? If so, purchase!
Since the summer to fall culotte jumpsuit passed my ways to wear test, it was worth the purchase. Without further adieu, here's what you can do to take that jumpsuit (in my case, my blue floral culotte jumpsuit but use any one you have) from summer to fall.
what you can do to take your culotte jumpsuit from summer to fall
1 || add a statement piece
one way to spice up any outfit is to add one of your favorite pieces of jewelry. I added a vintage blue necklace that I purchased at a local consignment shop a few years' back. Whenever I'm looking to add a bit more to my simple outfit, I'll throw on this necklace. What's your favorite statement piece? Take that out and throw it on with your culotte jumpsuit and voilá!
2 || wear it with a blazer
heading to work? throw on your culotte jumpsuit and layer it with a blazer. Another favorite, blazers have a way of making a look more sophisticated. I love them for anything from lunch out, to a work meeting, and even going out at night. The tip is to find a blazer that is easy to wear (read: you like the material) and fits just right (read: comfortable when giving a hug).
3 || add a pair of work appropriate heels
high, high heels just aren't my thing anymore. not for walking around at work all day long anyways. I can do like an hour or two max and then, I'm out. But wedges (without a rise in the front) or kitten heels, which are working their way back on the scene, now those I can do! Especially with my blue culotte jumpsuit for a fall outfit, low heels will do just fine.

I hope this helps you maximize your one pieces this season! I'd love to hear about what pieces you're trying to make the most out of. I can definitely help give you suggestions for how to wear them! Leave a comment and let me know which pieces you're trying to make the most of during this transitional time.
