Why High Waisted Jeans Aren't the Enemy
Why High Waisted Jeans Aren't the Enemy
I think when people think of high waisted jeans, that long flat behind, acid washed look comes to mind, am I right? But all the 80's moments aside, we have to rethink that image, because high waisted jeans are back. I'm telling you, there are so many reasons why high waisted jeans aren't the enemy! If you've gone through life in your 20's, had children, have a stomach that isn't washboard flat (because you don't have hours to work out every day), then high waisted jeans work in your favor. If you prefer to look structured in the tummy area and not have your stomach sticking out of your pants, then high waisted jeans are for you!
I tried on high waisted jeans, quite a few of them actually, before I found a pair that I loved. Some looked a little too 80's and some really, really worked. What worked about them for me? I stuck to a pair of high waisted jeans that have smaller back pockets (so your bum doesn't look so large) and a darker wash (makes any outfit sleeker). I also chose a pair with a waistline that doesn't nip at my tummy and I love them!
The new brand I love? Mother Denim. These high waisted babies make me feel great. And that should be the point of denim, right? The measurement of the rise of the pants (the crotch to the top of the waistband) is about 10 inches, which I think works for me. They sit right at the tip top of my belly button and I'm totally cool with that. They make me look a little bit structured and my stomach is certainly not sticking out over my pants. Oh, and I happen to love a good front tuck. So if you are like me, say hello to your new high waisted jean friend.
