Getting Creative in the New "Office"
jewelry party ideas in partnership with the Sprout HP...
I've finally, finally gotten around to unpacking our home and organizing my "office space" upstairs. it only took me 4 months! Part of the unpacking process was re-organizing what I wanted in my office, prioritizing, and jumping into the creative process again. Getting into the groove in a new city has it's challenges but one thing that made it a lot easier was meeting a great bunch of gals who encouraged me to host another jewelry swap. If you've ever thought about hosting a jewelry party, swap, or exchange of your own, I've got some jewelry party ideas for a fun & engaging swap!
I love jewelry swaps because I think they're a super fun way to meet new people and grab some gently used baubles, have a cocktail, and meet some new gal-friends! And it's a great excuse to give away some of your once-ever-so-loved jewelry to someone else while getting something "new" in return.
With that being said, one thing that I noticed when I hosted my first jewelry party (this year will mark my third one!) is that it's always the fun little details that get everyone into the spirit. This year, I'm using a brand new HP Sprout to take my jewelry party ideas up a notch. A fun twist is that I'm using all my own accessories to make the drink coasters for the guests!
So, how does it work? I've created a little PDF for you to download of your own so that you can create some fun jewelry coasters for your next party, event, or jewelry swap! You're welcome!
For the drink labels, you'll need:
- photo paper
- this jewelry party coasters template (PDF) for a set of 4 coasters
- scissors
- card stock in a few fun colors & textures
- elmers glue (or other craft glue you have on hand)
- Mod podge glue *recommended
DIRECTIONS:
1. Download the jewelry party coasters PDF. Make sure you've loaded your printer with a few sheets photo paper and print out 2 or 3 sheets of the PDF (the PDF has a set of 4 coasters) and gather your materials together.
2. Using the craft or Elmer's glue, adhere the jewelry coaster page to the back of a fun piece of card stock (in my case, I used silver and gold glitter card stock/craft paper).
3. Using scissors, cut the jewelry paper into quarters. There will be quite a large amount of extra space on all sides. You'll be cutting this down.
4-5. Measure about one finger-length on one side (or you can use a measuring tape and measure off 3 inches or so) and make four cuts on all four sides one finger length (or 3"). From there, feel free to get creative and cut off the edges, like I did, or cut into a circle (if you have a circle cutter) or diamond, add glitter, whatever suits your fancy!
*You can Modpodge the tops of the coasters to help keep them protected!
TIME: 30 minutes to an hour
COST: relatively low, depending on items you have/don't have. Photo paper can run around $10-$15 or so for a pack.
