5 Tips for Styling Your Next Pair of Khaki Pants
It used to be that a khaki pants outfit was a thing of the past. Maybe somewhat related to African safari's or maybe horseback riding, khaki pants seem synonymous with a colorless outfit. But I have to say, khaki's are coming back in a really big way. Here are some helpful tips for styling your next outfit where khaki pants are definitely the star of the show.
The Eye is in the details. For this khaki pants outfit, a closer focus shows you details in the bag, the accessories, the shoes, the pant. Did you see it too? Why does it work?
Style Tip #1: A neutral pant with a pop, why it works. When purchasing a khaki pants outfit think about adding a little something extra. Remember the detail? Where is it here? The black satin tuxedo stripe adds a bit of flare and fun to an otherwise everyday pair of boring pants. Not so here!
Style Tip #2: Tops & Bow Ties || Instead of a plain cream top, this top has a bit of pop with the great cuffed leather sleeve. And the black trim adds a streamlined look. Pair the khaki pants outfit with a thin black belt and the eye transitions comfortably from top to bottom!
Style Tip 3#: adding a belt is an easy way to accessorize! || As well, if you are wearing neutral colors, a great way to make your outfit feel amazing is with a great pair of shoes. If Sarah Jessica Parker didn't make you a believer, I hope I do! Here, the silk bow on the shoe, which doubles as the tie-closure, make for a really fun pop and again, flow with the lines of the belt and trim of the top. (Shoe: similar here and here)
Style Tip #4: Lines on Lines || The vertical lines of the tuxedo pant pair nicely with the lines of the suede tote, creating elongation. Think: streamlined. I'd love to see a khaki pants outfit pairing that you pull together.
Style Tip #5: Delicate accessorizing || To add to any outfit, accessorizing is the perfect way to bring that pop. Here, a few delicately chosen pieces from Mimi & Lu's jewelry collection bring a bit of focus to the soft neckline of the top and the hand. When accessorizing a minimal khaki pants outfit, try to minimize in areas that already have a lot of detail. Example: The cuff of the top is attention-grabbing enough, that I didn't need to accessorize the wrist.
The khaki pants outfit color story here is cream, beige, and black. One might call it Minimalism. There is also an added touch of denim, which you'll see, that adds a hint of practicality. Because this is focused on a more minimalistic look (for all of you working ladies out there, who are wondering what to put on that strays away from boring) this khaki pants outfit pairing is for you!
With a clean color palette, it's important that there is detail or color somewhere in your outfit. A jean jacket is one of those classic essential closet items that just does not go out of style and always adds that touch of color. You can wear it almost year-round and it pairs with a great number of outfits, even with a neutral khaki pants outfit such as this one. Think about investing in one of these babies and you won't be disappointed! Here, it plays the part of casual friend, in case it gets cool outside. (Jean Jacket: J. Crew)
One of the things I'm not afraid to incorporate into my wardrobe is color and texture. A pop here, a peak there and I'm a happy gal. But that being said, it is good to have a few neutral pieces in your closet to balance out all the color. One of my favorite neutral pieces I own are my tuxedo khaki pants. A classic khaki pants outfit can really go a long way & can bring a little neutral style into your wardrobe too!
