How to Wear Leggings with Boots for Fall
If there is one thing that we ladies love when it comes to fall, it's outfits with leggings with boots, am I right? Back when I talked about my fall capsule wardrobe pieces, outfits with leggings were definitely in the mix. And no doubt, I've worn them a handful of times already and the temperature has yet to drop below 68. So it's safe to say, my leggings and boots will be in rotation all fall and winter long. Here's a fun how to for wearing leggings with boots.

Tips for Wearing a Blazer | Plaid Blazer from Avenle
Wondering how to wear leggings with boots? Start with layering. I love layering with a blazer. If you think about it, a blazer is a pretty essential piece of clothing. If you need to look a bit more sophisticated, add a blazer. Cute and stylish? Blazer, blazer. It takes the blah out of any outfit. How do you know what type of blazer to buy? Look for a blazer that sits right at where your shoulder and arm meet. The sleeve length should hit at your wrist bone and it should have some give but also some structure in the arms.
A Tip for Pairing Your Leggings
How to Style Tip #1 | To add some versatility to your outfits with leggings, pull in layers. (You know me and the layers...it's a love, love relationship...) Start with a base top, either button down or sleeveless collar, throw on a pullover sweater, finish off with a blazer. Or leggings with long knit sweaters is another option.
How to Style Tip #2 | If you're going for elongation (you know, taller, more vertical...), just make sure whatever you're layering your leggings hits you right at and/or below your hipbone. It's just more flattering all the way around!
Today's style post is a fun collaboration with my new blogger pal, Jenna of Sincerely Jenna Marie! She and I love our style and we both have a love for plaid. I'm mixing my leggings and boots with my plaid blazer and she is mixing denim with her fabulous heels.
When you find the right pair of leggings, they can be your best friend. You too can create multiple outfits to wear leggings when you have the right pair! When you purchase a cheap pair, not so much….You can find a great pair of leggings at Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, or even Ann Taylor Loft for around $25.00 (on sale) to $60.00.Here are my recommendations for a great pair of leggings:
- Durable material: Make sure you’re not trudging around town in yoga pants and calling them “leggings”. Leggings should be fairly durable. Meaning, before you buy a pair, stick your hand in them and stretch them out. If you can see through them, pass. (Or only wear them indoors or at yoga…) Give a little tug on the seams of the leggings. Again, if you can’t see through them, you’re golden!
- Structure & Detail: Similar to durability, some structure in the pant is a good thing. If they have a slight pattern to them, or maybe they have zippers at the seam near the ankle, or faux leather trim, those details add structure, which is a good thing.
- Fitted on the bottom, Loose on the top: When you wear leggings, keep in mind that they are fitted and usually a bit snug. When picking out tops, think loose. A button-down blouse or popover sweater that covers you down to the middle of your hips is a great pairing.
