How to Style A Striped Maxi Dress
Summer is around the corner and what a great time to jump into summer style including pairing a maxi dress outfit with one of my favorite pieces, a chambray top.
HOW TO WEAR A STRIPED MAXI DRESS OUTFIT
Why it works? This maxi dress outfit works for three reasons (just to name a few??!):
- Pattern: one being which is the striped pattern in blue and cream. Stripes speak the language of summer and not only that, but blue and cream stripes remind me of all things nautical and beachy, reason number 2,
- Color: which immediately give off a vibe of summer
- Layers: And finally, summer can often be hard to dress for because one moment it's searing hot, the next, it's cool and breezy. So, layering with a similar fabric, such as a cotton chambray top (again, a year-rounder in the closet) is the closest thing to easy, and casual, that you can get while still managing to look purposeful and chic.
Tip: Don't forget the hat and bag! Tote bags make the greatest bags for throwing all of your travel, beach, or farmer's market goodies into while on the go. My new favorite beach tote is this one from Simple Peace.
If there is one thing I love about summer it's that you can get away with wearing a very minimal amount of clothes (no ladies, I don't mean skimpy....I mean fewer layers! I mean sleeveless, shorts, and maxi dress outfits ) and still look comfortable, chic, and pulled together. I've noticed that of the many things I've been rotating through in my closet and packing in my bag for trips this summer, it's a combination of a maxi dress outfit and tops paired with shorts and a belt. Simple? Yes. Effortless? You bet. Can you do it? For sure.
