GETTING READY FOR WORK, THE OUTFIT CHALLENGE
As much as I'm sure we'd all love to have a hairdresser on hand and closet ready outfit prepared for us each morning, that's just not reality. When it comes to getting ready in the morning, whether for work in the office or entrepreneurial meet up, how many of us would love to have a few pieces on hand that help us get ready in a flash?
I'm a huge proponent of whipping up a quick outfit that works for the office and a night out, all in the same day. Now don't get me wrong, I love to spend time putting together outfits for different events that come up throughout the year, like weddings or warm weather vacations. But the truth of the matter is that we spend most of our time at work (or in a work-related setting) so why not have outfits that are built around easy, stylish pieces that you can still rock on the weekends? Now that's an essential closet.
WHY THE STRIPED MIDI DRESS IS PERFECT FROM WORK TO WEEKEND
One of those versatile pieces that takes little to no time to rock in a work or casual setting is a striped midi dress. I've featured fit and flare dresses before and I am a bonafide testament to these dressing being pieces that absolutely elevate your work wardrobe and have you ready in a flash.
This black and white striped midi dress from Loft was one of those pieces. For work, it's easy to layer this striped midi dress with a blazer or moto jacket and work appropriate kitten heels (or high heels for those of you fancy ladies out there). Taking this dress from work to weekend is as easy as throwing on a pair of flats, a wide brimmed hat, and a classic jean jacket.
HOW TO WEAR THE STRIPED MIDI DRESS AS A WORK TO WEEKEND PIECE
Because most midi dresses are similar to fit and flare dresses in that they cinch at your natural waist or just above, a good little tip to remember is to layer with a piece that accentuates that cinch at the waist. Something that has a crop; a piece like a jean jacket, bomber jacket, or a moto jacket perhaps on the weekend. But then wearing the midi dress to work, pairing it with a cute blazer that has darting (seams) along the waist will help give you definition where you want it to keep the structure of your outfit cute! Here are a few examples of what I mean:
Now who's rocking the striped midi dress with me??
