Three Ways to Elevate Your Outfit
Most of us are spending a majority of our time at home these days. And while our days might all look a little different, one thing I always recommend is getting dressed each day. Getting dressed is important, even if we’re mostly spending our time at home. It’s a mood elevator, I can promise you that. And you know what? Getting put together and being comfortable can indeed go hand in hand. All you have to do is try a few of these tips for elevating your outfit and you too can work, play, and adjust to being at home, in style. I’m partnering with Garnet Hill to share some easy tips for you.
1 | Add a Unique Accessory
Adding in a fun accessory, like a belt, or a great pair of shoes with interest, is one of the simplest ways to elevate any outfit that doesn’t have a pattern or print in it. Belting adds texture to an otherwise simple outfit. Think of it like decorating a room. A belt can work like adding a great pillow to a bed. It adds dimension and texture, which in turn creates outfit interest.

2 | Dress in similar colors (monochromatic) and layer with a textured piece
One of the most sophisticated but effortless looks (especially when you want to be comfortable and look put together) is dressing in a similar color scheme of monochromatic colors. Adding in a textured layer as a finishing touch is key. It brings the outfit that effortless, comfortable vibe because your adding a simple layer. This modern linen topper (it comes in both golden khaki and indigo) is just the right layering piece to give off a comfortable but put-together look.
3 | Bring in a Pattern/Print
Thinking your outfit could use a little more umph? One of the easiest ways to do this (and one of my biggest tips for clients during a wardrobe styling session) is by bringing in a pattern or print somewhere in the outfit. If you’re not adding texture (or even if you are!) a print/pattern helps to add visual interest to an outfit. So when you’re hearing yourself say, “this feels blah” grab a print/patterned piece and use it as a top, bottom, or accessory! Then mix similar colors together (pulling the print colors out, which is a good thing) to ground the outfit.
