Why Tulle Skirts are the New Black
[show_shopthepost_widget id="2496892"]
The allusive tulle skirt. It's one piece that can divide stylistas into two distinct categories, love vs. loath. I've been loving on them for quite some time now, originally thinking that they had a short shelf life, but finding they've outlived the fashion peak/decline a whole lot longer.
Why Tulle Skirts are the New Black for Bridesmaids
Tulle skirts. I get it. They're not a functional piece by any means. But that's. the. point. of a great tulle skirt. Tulle skirts aren't meant to be functional. They're meant to make the imagination come alive, to bounce and flounce, and twirl. It's the closest piece we have as ladies to make us feel like young girls again.
Recently, the tulle skirt trend has come alive in the form of outfits for bridesmaids. In June, I am going to be in the wedding of my darling sister in law to be and brother in law. And what did she deem acceptable as the illustrious bridesmaids outfits? The two piece, replete with a tulle skirt. And oh, did my sartorial tulle skirt dreams come true. The chance to style another tulle skirt? Challenge accepted with glee.
J.Crew most recently devoted a line of tulle skirts to their style stories for spring, which leads me to believe that tulle skirts aren't going anywhere soon. As a bride/bridesmaid these days, we're offered the opportunity to use our imaginations when it comes to choosing outfits. Rather than the typical pick-from-a-bridal-store bridesmaids dress (of which I'm not a fan...), brands are adopting new pieces that you can mix-n-match (that ie: allow you to choose a style to fit your body type and possibly a piece or pieces you can actually wear again). Tulle skirts = the new black.
Love them or hate them, they'll be around for a while. And at the very least, you make the most of a tulle skirt and dance around in one like you're living out your sweet sixteen dreams. What are your thoughts on the tulle skirt trend? xx, Conni
