Capsule Wardrobe Pieces in Action

If you remember when I talked about wardrobe capsule post from Tuesday, you'll see that today's post is all about wardrobe planning and putting some of those wardrobe capsule pieces in action.  I love it when I can share some styling tips for your wardrobe, especially when it helps you with wardrobe planning of your own!

When wardrobe planning think about all the simple, chic pieces that you get the most wear out of.   How simple, yet chic, can a striped top be?  Very.  If you have one or are looking to invest in a piece that will become a wardrobe essential, consider a striped top.  I know that women have a very big opinion about stripes.  Big, small, vertical, horizontal, love them, hate them, you name it, we women have a story about it.   If you're in the I'm-not-a-fan category, here are 2 simple rules to remember when wardrobe planning for stripes:

SIMPLE RULE #1:  Thin stripes are your friend.

SIMPLE RULE #2: Play with proportion and color. Try on horizontal stripes, vertical stripes, and small stripes in various colors.

When wardrobe planning, it's also important to think about a few things.  Ask yourself, Where would I wear these pieces from my capsule wardrobe?  My answer, I'd wear them to book club, out to eat on the weekend, heading to the movies, or out with my girlfriends.  It's that touch of glitter in the shoe (obviously not a capsule piece but fun nonetheless!) that adds a bit of casual fanciness to the outfit.  What about you?  Where would you wear it?
