A Week of Warm Weather Travel Outfits
Just back from Hawaii for just shy of a week and reflecting on my outfits. I had total goals of taking daily photos of my outfits to document that I did, in fact, wear all of my carry on pieces, only to have my phone drop in the Pacific Ocean on a Sunset Cruise. Probably my fault for setting it down on a table, on a moving catamaran. Lesson learned. But I did lose three full days of outfit photos. Ah, well. What are you going to do? Buck up, get a new phone, and move along with your vacation. I packed a carry on, as is my travel mission, and I can safely say that I probably could have pulled out a top (took an extra black crop tank here that I love but didn’t end up wearing because I wore this cream one three times instead. Use code CONNI15 and size up. These tanks are the best.)
Pants (bought in Paris two years ago from this shop) // Tank top // Similar Sandals // Bag
As evidence on my trip to Kenya last year, I can safely say I packed for 10 days in a carry on and also reused some of the same pieces on this year's trip to Hawaii. Playing with outfit planning ahead of time saves me so much time in the long run when I’m on vacation. Because I already have the genesis of my wardrobe together, knowing that I can swap out things here and there, it actually makes it easier to get dressed once I’m at my destination.
How do I do it? Well, I have a short video here working through my process and I use my “shop your closet” method that I practice. (In case you’re a self-starter/packer/planner - here’s the shop your closet outfit planning guide, it’s my step-by-step process to pre creating outfits I love from my closet so I don’t overshop or overpack on vacation.). This is also something I do with clients as well before they head out on a trip. Because what’s worth it in the end is the feeling of ease, the lack of stress and overpacking that exists, so I (or my client) can be present on the trip (and feel stylish, elevated, comfortable, all the things, too…)
My Packing List
BOTTOMS // cream pant / cream shorts / printed dress / black flowy pant
TOPS // AYR White button up / black tank / white cropped tank (conni15 for 15% off) / cream cropped tee (CONNI15 for 15% off)
LAYERS // Denim jacket / cream cardigan
SHOES // Cream braided sandals / Black strap sandals
BAGS // Pot de miel Clare V bag / Red Freda Salvador Tote (15CONNI for 15% off)
HATS // NB Brown Baseball Cap / Straw Bucket Hat
I took the perfect amount of bottoms/dress options (probably could have not worn the dress but it brought a bit of fun/print into the mix. I didn’t use the layers nearly as much as I thought I was going to because of the tropical weather, so in hindsight, no cardigan or no denim jacket. But overall, all pieces were worn and I was quite happy with the turnout. Links to my packing list are all here too.
