Warm Winter Workout Clothes
Giving a bit of a pep talk to me, you, and taking inventory of my winter workout clothes today on the blog..
It's January and the perfect time to take a little assessment of my winter workout clothes, most of which had been pretty lackluster up until the beginning of this month. (I finally got down to it and invested in some great workout clothes...) When it comes to working out, I find that it comes and goes in stages. I don't know about you, but I hit highs and lows. When I get busy with work and general life things, working out most definitely goes on the back burner. My low, I admit. That's not to say I don't enjoy being active and working out (which I very much do). I just find it difficult to stick to a weekly plan that stays the same when my life most certainly does not.

So in an attempt to tackle this challenge of lack of gym motivation, I thought I'd take stock of my gym-going, winter workout clothes to see if I could kick start my attitude with a few additions to the gym-wear game. Starting with, what I wanted to use my gym clothes for. I'm not a runner by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, I think my body rejects my desire to run in any way, shape, or form. I know this because after about 1 mile, I'm pretty much over it. Boredom sets in, I quickly hit next on Spotify about four hundred times trying to get the next great high energy song to keep me going, and I look at the distance/time tracker on that treadmill thinking, just one. more. minute.. Nope. Running just ain't in my DNA.
But I've found that I love getting outdoors, going for a great neighbourhood walk, or a cruise on Poppy Peddler. But challenge with that is that the temps in Toronto are hovering around darn near freezing and it makes it really hard to get outdoors for some much-needed exercise. So this is where I've decided to add in some helpful winter workout clothes to my gym wardrobe to make heading outside in the cold, well, not so darn bad after all.
Here are a few things I've learned about warm winter workout clothes. Arms and legs covered. Duh. But not only that, cover it with a great fitting jacket. Keep warm, keep layered. This peplum dotted jacquard jacket is one of my new favorites. Not only can I get away with wearing it walking, (a short bit of..) running, or heading to the gym, I can pop it on on my way to the grocery store layered with a great down vest to help keep that bit of warmth we so desperately need here in Toronto. (Peplum is also super slimming, so it's a great option for a cute workout jacket!) These great floral workout pants are my new favorite print. They are subtle (with hints of grays) so they won't stand out like a crazy pattern when you're working out.
Keep your feet comfy. These New Balance 620 sneakers are my absolute favorites too. This is my second pair and I swear to you, they're like walking on clouds. I wore my first pair o.u.t. in Paris over the summer, so these were a welcome reprieve. I absolutely love the bit of pink on the logo, which is just that perfect pop of color.
Well, I can't say I'm getting to the gym so much more now but I can say that I'm excited to put on what I'm wearing before I head outdoors! Whether you find yourself regularly at the gym, or like me, heading there but wanting so desperately to get outdoors, maybe investing a few new winter workout clothes will do you just the trick for staying warm and healthy this winter. Have you found a go-to workout regime that keeps you motivated? Tell me what it is!!
