The Benefits of Adding Ankle Pants to Your Wardrobe
Let's chat a bit about a piece of clothing that I think is a necessity in your closet. A little something called the ankle pant and I am wholeheartedly a fan. For a lot of different reasons ankle pants are a favorite but one most important reason being that ankle pants are a very versatile piece. Think not? Oh, let me be the voice of reason for you here.

Turning Ankle Pants into Everyday Wear
At lot of women are of the mindset that work clothes are for work and casual clothes are for all the other times you're not working. For some, there are two distinct wardrobes for two specific purposes. I get it when you work in a very business minded office, it's hard to dress down. But for everyone else, it doesn't really make the most sense to stigmatize your closet like that. If you're trying to make the most of your wardrobe, why pigeonhole pieces for just work or just weekend?
I am a huge believer that you should look at the majority of pieces you purchase (before you purchase them) as being pieces you can integrate into your already designed wardrobe a lot of different ways. The idea being that you look at your clothes as not just designated for "work" and not just "weekend" specific. The ankle pant is my case in point that one pant can go a long way.
How to Pick Out & Wear Ankle Pants to Suit your Body Type
Normally I'm a big fan of color. I love to integrate color into my outfits with patterned pants, a colorful top, or a great bag. But color isn't for everyone and it doesn't always make women feel uber confident. I've noticed when going into client's closets for closet edits that women have a majority of black in their wardrobe. The color black is one of those colors that will, when worn right, give the effect of sleekness and will be most forgiving on our bodies when we're feeling kind of drab but want to feel fabulous. These Lilla P black ankle pants have been a great addition to my closet. I can dress them up with heels and wear them casually with slip ons and they work great both ways. Case. in. Point.
When you're buying a new pair of ankle pants think about your body:
- do they hit you right at your ankle bone or just above? (that's a flattering length for you)
- what do they feel like on you? (material matters, you must feel comfortable in them or you won't wear them)
- do you have wider hips? (you'll want to consider a darker pattern, print, and color. if you're wearing darker colors on the bottom, this will help the eye gravitate upwards)
- do you have a long torso? Or are taller than 5'6"? (a higher waist ankle pant will work well on you)
- are you petite? have a shorter torso? (a low to medium ankle pant rise is the best for you)
When you're wearing a pair of ankle pants, try this:
- if you have wide hips, wear a top that is long enough that it hits at the widest part of your hip and tuck it in just slightly at the front or wear untucked.
- if you are conscious about your stomach area, give a pair of high waisted ankle pants a try and pair with a peplum style top
- for date night, pull on heels. for a day outside, try slip ons or flats. for work, try oxfords or a kitten heel. they all work with a pair of ankle pants, that's why ankle pants are awesome!!
