The Perfect Handmade Denim Tote Bag

I'm excited to introduce you to a local San Diego company who's doing great things!  Boutonne bags is a fantastic design company making beautiful leather goods.  The term Boutonne is French and takes on the meaning of class & character and relates to someone who is put together.  Think: clean & minimal and you've got Boutonne.

One thing I love about the Boutonne bags are that you can integrate them into just about all of your outfit selections because of the materials they use.  Who doesn't love the pairing denim and leather?  I interviewed Erin, the mastermind behind Boutonne, to find out more about her biz and brand she's building in San Diego.:

Erin, How did you get started?

i've been designing my entire career, but two years ago i just took a huge leap of faith + started boutonné full time.

What's your favorite part about what you do?

i feel so incredibly blessed to be able to make a living doing what i love. i love the design process. there is nothing like seeing a vision turn into a drawing + then come to life in an actual piece.

With whom would be a dream collaboration for you?

oh goodness… that's tough. there are so many designers that i love + respect. if i had to choose one, it would likely be christopher bailey.

Who have you had collaborations with already?

we've done a few custom pieces since we have come to life as a company + several collaborations with designers + companies which all have been such a fun experience.

Where do you find your inspiration?

i find my inspiration in many places. the world that we inhabit if full of life + color, there is inspiration all around us.

 most of my better ideas have come to me in the middle of the night.

Being that you're from San Diego, I have to ask you a few fun San Diego questions: 

• I love San Diego because.....its home. i grew up here so it will always be my first love.

• San Diego has great......weather!!

• Three adjectives to describe my style are.....classic, refined, innovative

• How do you choose where you shop in San Diego? i try to shop local stores + support small businesses
