A Gold Polka Dot Maxi Dress for Christmas Eve Dinner

We leave for San Diego tomorrow and in my bag you bet I've packed my Christmas eve outfit, which is this lovely polka dot maxi dress from Eliza J.  Christmas eve has always been one of my favorite nights of the year.  From my childhood to my marriage, this evening carries with it what I think is some special holiday magic of sorts.

Growing up, we would celebrate Christmas eve at my grandmother's house on my father's side of the family.  And family did we have; 16 cousins, 7 aunts, 7 uncles, it was like that crazy introduction scene in Home Alone with kiddos running about and joyful, raucous cheer coming from the living room and kitchen.  We'd exchange gifts, pass around the holiday treats, and head to Catholic mass around midnight with my grandma.  Good memories were always in tow upon looking back at my many childhood Christmas eves.

When I got married a few years back, my husband's family had a similar gathering on Christmas eve.  And being that we lived in San Diego, we began to share his family's tradition of the Christmas eve dinner.  Ever since, I've loved the idea of getting a bit dressed up for the occasion.  Which is why I think this lovely gold polka dot maxi dress is the perfect little number for a holiday gathering.
