Style 101: Getting Your Style Back on Track
This past year has thrown our closets into a tailspin. We’ve had to re-think the entire way our closets service our lifestyles. And with it, style has done a 180. Instead of reaching for pieces for going out, brunching, meeting up with friends, traveling, and anything related to outside, we have had to dress for hunkering down, laying low, our inner sanctums, and upper halves. And while it’s been pleasant for a while, and athleisure has had its moment in the sun, it’s left most of us feeling lost, out of style, and out of touch with our sartorial side. Yay for leggings and joggers, but what the heck are we actually supposed to wear to have interactions with humans now??
In the last month, virtual style calls have jumped almost 200%. Humanity is opening up again, we can now converse in social settings with others, jobs are starting to require showing up in person again. And suddenly, we’re lost in the jogger abyss, unable to make sense of our closets. We look in there, but don’t recognize what we see. Almost every virtual client I have been working with has made one of the following comments:
I feel “lost” when it comes to knowing my style.
I feel like my style is everywhere
I feel like nothing goes together, nothing mixes and matches
I’m always in workout clothes, I don’t know how to get dressed up anymore
I don’t like anything, nothing fits, and I feel blah
If you are you nodding your head, please know you are not alone. You’ve been through what I call a “style transition.” But not just any style transitions, one of the longest style transitions, ever. A style transition is something such as a job change, a move, a change of season, becoming a parent. All of these cause a shift in lifestyle activities and a closet edit to reevaluate what is serving you is necessary. Usually a style transition lasts around a month or two. However, this particular style transition has lasted a year, a year!
Style 101
So what do you do about it? It’s time to get your style back on track. Over the last few weeks, I thought about the advice I was repeatedly giving to those comments above and I decided to put them into a “mini class” for you. It’s a style class that is three easy lessons, three worksheets, and one bonus, that will help you get your style back on track. I’m calling it, Style 101. And it launches next week.
Class Outline
Lesson 1: Creating Your Style Descriptors - Goal: You will figure out what your style is
Lesson 2: Creating Your Style Mood Board - Goal: You will build a moodboard with images that align with your interests, style descriptors, lifestyle.
Lesson 3: Create a Cohesive Closet - Goal: You will build up pieces in your closet that mix/match well together and that you wear often.
How is this class different than other classes?
This class takes the best elements of Finding Your Style, Curate Your Colors, and Creating a Closet You Love and combines them into a three lesson mini class that pinpoints solutions to style struggles I get asked about frequently! If you’ve taken the other classes, you might have found the answers you need but if you find yourself struggling to define your current style or you feel like nothing in your closet works together this is going to make getting a handle of you personal style so much easier for you.
I came up with this class as a solution for women who feel “lost when it comes to style” or feel like “nothing goes together”. Actual phrases I’ve heard repeated again and again by my virtual style clients.
How long does the class take? When do I start?
You can access the class on your own time. You can take as long as you want on any one lesson or watch the lessons/complete the lessons in any order you wish. They are designed to work together and watching them a few times may help solidify your learning moments. Each lesson is around 20-30 minutes or less. After purchasing the class, you will always have access to the worksheets and videos.
Do I need to take other classes first?
Absolutely not! This is a class for those that feel lost in the world of style and need some direction from a style professional!
Can I book a Virtual Style Session after the Class?
Actually, I’d highly recommend booking a 30 minute or 1-hour style session after you take the class to go over any questions, revelations (there will be some great ah-ha! moments, and to uncover and clarify your next step style goals! This will be like the icing on the cake to bring it all together. It will also help you because we can come up with some actionable steps unique to your personal style goals!
What’s the cost?
The class will be $20 for ONE DAY and will launch next week. To get the class at the $20 fee, click here.
