My Favorite Toronto Coffee Shops
Well, it's been officially a week and so many days and I'm just barely starting to settle in to Toronto life. This city is gorgeous, the architecture and parks glorious, and energy infectious. There are no lack of things to see, places to eat, and Toronto coffee shops in which to blog for hours on end.

My Favorite Toronto Coffee Shops
The temperature has remained a steady cold. And despite my valiant efforts to explore the outdoors, I'm just not a 6 degree-fahrenheit-hang-out-outdoors type of gal. Which works in my favor for two reasons; 1) there are tons of darling Toronto coffee shops to explore. And 2) I blog (which is a specific species of person who can spend up to four hours at a time lost in computer world). So helloooo indoor paradise for at least a couple of hours a day and until we finally settle in to our new place (which should happen this weekend)!
Our moving truck arrives on Saturday and I couldn't be more thrilled! It's been a challenge living in a temporary place a bit farther away from the city. Without all the makings of what one would consider a "home" i.e.: a well stocked kitchen, our own bed, I spend a lot of time at coffee shops. But it's been a great learning experience. I've discovered a few favorite "winter" things here, some of which I could never afford (like this Canada Goose jacket) and some of which I've embraced with a passion (my new Sorels are a cult classic). Until then, I'll bemuse you with pictures of my favorite Toronto coffee shops of late, being that that's where I've been spending most of my time since arriving here. It's amazing how much you can get accomplished in a pretty space (and with 3 cups of coffee..).
1 | Dineen Coffee Co. | 140 Yonge St.
Inside and out, this gem, located downtown is an interior designer's dream. From its floors to its lattes, every inch is beautiful. A darling new friend, Stephanie (check out her beautiful Instagram feed here) and I met up back in February here and I immediately fell in love. It gets a little busy but visually, it is a one of my favorite Toronto coffee shops.
2 | Balzacs Coffee Roasters | Market Street
I discovered Balzacs on a little jaunt while waiting for the hubby to get off work. I set up my computer and starting ticking away in this lovely shop. Their floors are nothing short of fabulous and their brewed coffee is just as delicious. (they have more than one location, I figured out while driving around but i love the first location I walked into, so I'll check out the others in months to come.)
3 | Boxcar Social | 1208 Yonge St. Rosedale
This quaint Toronto coffee shop serves up a lovely cappuccino and has a beautiful upstairs space to sit and chat (or blog!) away. Thanks to my lovely new friend, Christine (check out her lovely feed on Instagram..)
4 | Ella's Uncle | 916 Dundas St. W
This darling gem of a shop (one of the quaintest of the Toronto coffee shops) off of Dundas St. has a fabulous small-neighborhood vibe. Locals cruise in for a coffee chat, then cruise out on their way to work, happy as clams. The owners make all of their (amazing!) pastries in house and let me be one to attest to the fact that they have one of the most tasty bacon cheddar scones I've ever consumed.
5 | Colette Grand Cafe | 550 Wellington Street W.
| The Cafe, where I spend my time ogling over the pastries while blogging |
| The Restaurant (where I had my lovely little lunch) |
If it's eye candy you're looking for, you're sure to find it in every square inch at Colette Grand Cafe. I ate lunch in their restaurant & drank coffee here in their Toronto coffee shop cafe and just about had the time of my coffee-loving life in this Parisian-inspired delight. I've heard they have killer brunch (which is a huge thing here too!) and I can't wait to try it out.
Do you know of any more coffee shops I should try? I've just started touching on the surface of the lovely places to sit and have a cup of jo. I would love for you to leave a comment on your favorite coffee place in Toronto or elsewhere. Can't wait to hear your suggestions! xx, Conni
