What Shoes to Wear with Straight Leg Jeans
With straight leg jeans on the scene, one of the big questions I’m getting now is how to style them with what shoes. So I thought I’d throw together a quick video reel on Instagram and show you here how I would style which shoes with my straight leg jeans.
1 | The Ballet Flat
A ballet flat is a classic shoe that can be worn with a lot of jean styles, but especially with a straight leg. Whether the straight leg jean is cropped or full length, a ballet flat will do just the trick. My square toe Bella ballet flats are from Italic, a direct to consumer brand that cuts out the cost of the markup so you pay one yearly fee and get access to great basics made at the same factories as high end retailers. Use code CONNI50 for 50% off of your yearly membership! Layer the straight leg denim with an oversized boyfriend blazer and this is my go to daytime look.
2 | The Loafer
A good loafer is such a great versatile shoe. Whether you opt for a pointed toe (my choice) or a rounded option, loafers are a great choice. Here I paired it for fall with the Kensley wool cashmere coat from Italic and simple white tee (The Perfect White Tee from Advocate the Label, read the story about the brand here.) If you’re wanting to elevate a minimal outfit like this, one way to do that is with a great shoe, like this animal print Trask loafer and then layered necklaces (chain from Wear Iris and pendant from Temple of the Sun.)
3 | The STRAPPY sandal
Another great shoe to pair with a straight leg jean is a strappy sandal. This is the perfect way to integrate the straight leg jean from a late summer to fall transition. This is my go to date night look, paired with a simple camisole (again upping my game with accessories) and then layering with my favorite Dalby AllSaints leather moto jacket (definitely size up in this as the brand runs super small).
4 | A white Sneaker
By now, I’m sure you’ve gotten the hunch that I’m slightly obsessed with my Eda D’Orsay leather sneakers from Freda Salvador. They are one of my most worn shoes, ever, not exaggerating. What makes these sneakers great (other than the fact they are comfortable as heck) is the low sides allow you to wear them with just about anything, in addition to straight leg jeans. Here I have them paired with a simple striped sweater from Alex Mill. I love the feel and texture of this sweater so much. This is a great transitional fall outfit.

5 | Ankle Booties
Here is what is especially great about straight leg jeans, you can actually wear your booties with them! I have a pair of M.Gemi tall chelsea style booties with a block heel here and they come right up to the edge of my Levi’s straight leg jeans. It’s the perfect match. What happens if your jeans bunch at the top of your bootie? Simply roll them up! The wider cut at the bottom allows this style to be worn with plenty of booties, so you’re in luck. I’m wearing a bodysuit and layering with a blazer for a chic date night out look. (I also love this eco-friendly, size-inclusive Totally Possible Blazer from Everybody & Everyone.)
6 | MUles
Mules are a fantastic transitional shoe that can take straight leg jeans from summer into fall. My Jenni Kayne mules (these fit true to size) are another go to for throwing a print into my outfit when the rest of the outfit is solid. I’m wearing the same bodysuit and blazer above but the mules make it a day-friendly, work-possible outfit!
