How to Style Wide Leg Full Length Pants

Wide Leg Full length pants aren’t new. They’ve been around since the time of Diane Keaton (love her) and Annie Hall. Honestly, they were probably around before then (pretty sure it was the 20’s) but that Diane Keaton as Annie Hall menswear look was a moment that stands out to me. It was embracing menswear as a look, specifically with a full length pant, and making it part of the style culture. Part of what makes a wardrobe feel fresh is having different types of pieces in our closets, not just one of every color. The variety, the lengths, the types, cause us to branch out of a “uniform” and into something that feels out of our comfort zone but can be a good lesson learning that something new can work too.

I love that wide leg full length pants are making a comeback. As a stylist it gives me the creative freedom to try something new to see how it integrates into my ever evolving wardrobe, then to share that love with my clients. Change can be scary, especially when you’ve been living in a style for years now (yes, skinny jeans, I’m talking to you) But that’s also the evolution of the cycle of style and fashion. A trend becomes a trend, becomes a staple in your wardrobe, peaks at it’s cycle, and declines, and dies off. There’s a point where comfortability can feel stagnant, or as some of my clients have been saying lately, leaving them with a feeling of sameness or redundancy. This is why it’s good to embrace these new style evolutions.

I’m here to tell you not to be afraid. To show you that a full length pant (along with skinnies, wide legs, cropped, ankle length, you name it) can be a useful tool in your wardrobe arsenal.

The wonderful thing about wide leg full length pants are that they can be dressed up (I wore these Vesta Linen pants from Reformation out to dinner last night with this Sezane Isabella Bodysuit (I linked a similar one from Express linked here) and these Marina Block heel mules from Reformation) but also worn dressed down for a casual weekend outfit (paired with a scoop neck tank from Sold Out NYC (code CONNIVIP20 for 20% off)) and my new favorite Freda Libby Sneakers (code 15CONNI for 15% off your first pair of Fredas).

This easy weekend look is great with white sneakers (these updated Freda Salvador Libby sneakers are my current white sneaker obsession, use code 15CONNI for 15% off).

Pair with sandals, an elevated top or tee, and a textured bag for an easy weekend look. This bag is the Clare V Grande Fanny and is one of my favorite hands free go-to’s. The sandals are old Everlane strappy neutrals (similar linked here) and my top is the halter tank (one of my all time favorites) from Sold Out NYC. (CONNIVIP20 for 20% anything full price).

This is a great, casual, but pulled together look with a Not So Basic Halter tank from Sold Out NYC and worn with a super cozy Lucy Cardigan from Kilte Collection. I pulled out some elevated flats, these are the Celine Loafers from Freda Salvador, which aren’t available anymore but if they ever come back, I’ll be investing in a second pair.
