What to Wear to Work When It's Warm Outside
If we spend most of our time at work, we might as well do our best to dress the part. One of the challenges of work wear is pulling together a comfortable, cute ensemble for indoor/air conditioning but have it be adaptable enough to take you into the warmth of the outdoors on the same day. There are some key pieces that have helped me along over the years to pull the indoor/outdoor same-day look.
I am a sucker for layering, which is key when you're dealing with indoor air conditioning and tend to get cold/warm/hot/cold all within a 6 hour span of time. Does that happen to you? Oh, it happens to me all the time. So to combat that temperature change, I find that starting the day with a layer that I can take off and put back on is the perfect mix. Which layers do the trick? I love light layered jackets and cropped cardigans that I can also layer on/off when I'm feeling the need.
light layers
- light jean jackets - these are perfect for throwing in your work bag which I do all the time, these are my fav! I love this white jean jacket as an affordable summer option.
- cotton cardigans - also a convenient extra layer to stash in a bag, you can also keep it on your chair at work!
- sleeveless vests - if you're one to opt for an extra layer but don't like the heaviness, a great sleeveless option is a waterfall vest. It's a longer, sleeveless version of a cardigan that is great for more than the warmer months. I wrote a post about sleeveless vests not too long ago. Love 'em!

The Indoor/Outdoor Pink Floral Print Dress
Under those layers? I tend to find that dresses, like this pink floral print dress from Eliza J, hit just the right indoor/outdoor sweet spot. Why so? The sleeveless factor does it for me. If I'm going to layer indoors when it's hot outside, I like to wear pieces that suit me when I'm going to head outside. A few favorite combos work well when you're throwing together a work outfit in the warmer temps.
warm weather pieces for work
- sleeveless dresses - I love a great sleeveless dress in the warmer months. I've been eyeing this pink floral print dress and I finally nabbed it a few weeks ago.
- sleeveless tops/paired with pants/skirts - the perfect combo to layer over, if I do say so myself!
- jumpers/rompers - These are one pieces that work in a flash! I love them for their versatility. I wrote a post about pieces that'll help you get ready for work in a flash and these were definitely on that list!
