Spring Trends 101: Your Guide to the Spring Trends
Anticipation. There's no other way to describe it. The beginning of a new season. The longing for a seasonal weather shift. All of us start to feel it, don't we? I get very, very excited at the prospect of putting away my winter clothes, breaking out my spring gear, and adding a few spring trends to my closet.

Last spring, I saw some new spring trends hit the streets (culottes and overalls to name a few...) and I wasn't quite so sure how I felt about them. So I waited them out, just to see if they'd stick around. Sometimes, I wait out a trend for a few reasons:
1 | Just what it's name implies, it's a trend...when trends hit the streets, I really have to feel confident that I will get a lot of wear out of it before I go spending money on it.
2 | Price... I'm also not going to spend a whole lot on "trends" and sometimes trends just don't quite fit my body, so it's not worth purchasing. But when I do see a trend and it's right within my price point, usually under $150, I'll take the leap and make the purchase.
3 | Longevity...If I'm not sure I'll get a whole lot of wear out of an item than I'll hold off until I know I can make it work. How do I know? I visualize how I'm going to wear it a few different ways or I'll scope out how others are doing it on Pinterest to get inspiration.
When looking for advice on spring trends, I not only take into consideration what my comfort level is but I love seeking advice from stylish blogging friends. All the Spring Trends 2016 You Should Know About for 2016
1. The Checkered Print
by Natalie Borton of Thoughts by Natalie
"One trend I'm loving for spring is black and white check print—I have a button down and a dress and am eyeing a scarf. I just can't get enough! Though colored check print can feel really sweet and preppy, the black and white contrast keeps it fresh, modern and edgy. And since it's neutral, it's easy to mix and match with the rest of your wardrobe."
2. The Cropped Flare
by Gaby Burger of The Vault Files |
"One trend I’m loving for Spring is the cropped flares trend and even though I’m a skinny jeans girl at heart I’m really loving the pair I got and haven’t taken them off ever since! They are super comfortable (especially if you get a high-waist version), and you’d be surprised at how well they go with any style of shoes!"
3. The Grecian Sandal
by Alex Evjen of AVE styles |
"A trend that I'm loving for spring are Grecian sandals. They are effortlessly chic and cool. Pair them with a maxi skirt or ripped boyfriend jeans, and you are set for the weekend. Of course, a spring pedi in pastel hues would make you even more on trend."
4. The Lace Up Flat
by Ela of Wunderbliss |
"This spring, lace-up flats are back and proven to be an ongoing trend this season. These delicate flats are so fun to wear and really take your outfit to a whole new level of chicness. They're so versatile and can easily be taken from day to night, the options are endless. I love wearing mine with a pair of distressed denim or a loose dress/skirt. It's a trend that you won't regret trying!"
5. Nautical Pieces
by Krystin of Suburban Faux-Pas |
"One trend I'm loving for spring is the return of all things nautical. There's nothing I love more than a crisp and preppy outfit complimented by red, white and blue. Oh and don't forget the stripes ;) This is a fail-safe combo that never gets old!"
6. Overalls
Carrie, Stylist + Blogger of They Call Her Smith |
"While overalls have been on the scene for the past couple of years, they've never been bigger than they are now. They're turning out to be a huge trend for spring! There are mannnny different types and silhouettes you can choose from – slim/skinny (like the style I'm wearing), boyfriend/baggy to long/flared. To be honest, I really wasn't sure about them a couple of springs ago when I first tried them. It took me a whole year and another style because I kind of hated them the first time! When styling, just treat them like a normal pair of jeans; you can pair tees, turtlenecks, button-ups, and blouses with sneakers, pumps, sandals- anything! "
7. The Monochromatic Look
7. Monochromatic
"One trend I'm loving this spring is the monochromatic look. Not only does monochromatic make you look flattering but you appear longer when wearing the same color from top to bottom. This spring try this trend with your favorite sweater or top and pair it with a great pant in a similar hue."
