3 Ways to Style Your Striped Dress this Fall
August and September are "transition" months when it comes to style. I won't talk much about the loss of summer because that's always a sad topic for me (it's hard to let go of that easy-breezy-less-layers style). But I will talk about what you can do to transition your summer wardrobe into fall. And we'll start with a wardrobe basic that you might already have, the striped dress.
Striped Dress Outfit Ideas to Transition Seasons
One of my purchases this summer, which I was totally jazzed about and wore a million times over (as evidence here, here, and here) was this striped dress from Shopbop. It's under $100 and truly comfortable as all get out. So, comfortable in fact that I thought it would be the perfect dress to show you a few striped dress outfit ideas because you know I love a good reason to show you different ways to wear what you have in your closet. If you have a striped dress already here is a great style guide for fall. If you don't, this one would be a good start.
The Striped Dress Summer Outfit
A striped dress is a great summer piece. It's a one stop outfit piece that you can throw on when you're heading to the farmers market during the day. Then you can layer with a jean jacket, another staple wardrobe piece to keep you warm should you attend a summer concert outdoors.
The easiest way to transition from summer into fall is to build your wardrobe around layers. Days are still a bit warm, but nights start to get cool. So you may not want to (or need to) build with heavy layers. The first of the striped dress outfit ideas is built around using light layers, such as a vest or jean jacket. Throwing on a light layer can help to make your outfit look different from the usual and changing it up that easily breathes more life into your outfit in an instant.
The Striped Dress Outfit #2, Layering Up for Work
Let's say you love your striped dress but you don't think you can pull it off for work. Tip here? You absolutely can! Simply layer a skirt (keeping in mind that it's longer than your striped dress) to create an entirely different striped dress outfit that will be work appropriate! Or you can don on a fancier skirt and wear it out for dinner too! I did this and took my outfit on a stylish turn for the better. Add a pair of work-appropriate heels into the mix and you've got a brand new outfit on your hands.
Striped Dress Outfit Option 3, Layer Under with a Top
The last, and most easy to wear to work, striped dress outfit idea is throwing on your trusty button-down under your striped dress, and voila, a work-appropriate outfit that you can layer with great accessories. Give your striped dress a makeover this fall and let me know what you try! Which style is your favorite?
