Last week, I tried on my first pair of white crop pants. I thought I'd give them a go because I've been looking for an alternative for work pants. And let me tell you, I love them!

For as much as I love color, I have to admit, it's kinda nice to take a step into a neutral color palette. I'd be the first to tell you that I'm going to break out those brights and pastels in as many ways as possible this spring. But there's also something refreshing about a neutral color scheme. And in a way, pairing together basics with a fun trendy spring piece is energizing for your style. It's also the perfect way to create a practical outfit you'll look forward to wearing.
One of the neutral pieces I just integrated into my wardrobe for spring is the fitted culotte style white crop pant. I watched last fall as the culotte pant rolled down the runways and into the stores and at first, I was a bit leary. This year, I'm giving them a shot. I started with a white crop pants I picked up from Loft. Loft often has good sales, so I thought a) I wouldn't be spending a fortune and b) if I tried them and didn't like them, I could take them back.
My initial thoughts? These white culotte pants are great. The material is delightfully comfortable and the cut & fit of the culottes made me wondering why I didn't start figuring out how to wear culotte pants last year. The white is more like a cream color and they are perfect for balancing a neutral spring look for work or on the weekend. I chose to pair it with a neutral color sweater, also from the loft, tucked in the front of the sweater into the pant and threw on a pair of lace up flats in a sandy-rust color. The perfect work outfit.
A Beginners Guide for Cropped Pants: 3 Tips for Wearing White Crop Pants for The First Time
I do a lot of running around at work and know that these pants will be comfortable enough to take me from morning to evening. I also need a pant I can wear with a sweater, a tee-shirt and blazer, or my favorite trench coat. These cropped pants can do just that. If you've been on the lookout for a reason to purchase your first (or more) cropped pant, here are 3.
1 | Have them Tailored ||
If you find a pair of culotte, gaucho, or white crop pants that you really like, in color, shape, and style, but the length is a bit off for you, take them to a dry cleaner who may also do tailoring and have them hemmed. There is no perfect length for a single person but usually a good rule is that a bit shorter is better than too long. Above the ankle is a great rule for fit.
2 | Go with the Front Tuck ||
One of the ways to make the most out of a crop pant that isn't full length is to tuck your top in at the front.
3 | Wear them with Pointed Toe Flats or Heels ||
Take for example the pointy-toe wrap flats I wore with the white cropped pants. Having a sleek shoe helps to minimize any bluntness that the pant might give off. If you're not a during-the-week-wear-heels-to-work type gal (like me..) than a sleek pointed-toe shoe is the way to go.
